Wow, I am still in shock over last week’s killing of Christians in Colorado. Here was a young man who had been in our churches for years. But, he wasn’t one of us. For some reason, he missed out on being made whole by Christ. Maybe one of us neglected to reach out to the boy while he was open to the gospel. Maybe we neglected to pray for him when the Holy Spirit let us to do it. Maybe we just assumed that someone else was sharing the love of Christ with him. Or, maybe the boy just hardened his heart and refused to give in to the call of Christ. Whatever the reason, this young man will never have another opportunity to respond to the call of God. My heart grieves for him and his family.

The 4 people who died in the shootings, 2 missionaries from Youth With a Mission, and 2 sisters leaving church in Colorado Springs are a real loss to the world. These were four of the best. It means that those who are left will need to step up and fill the void left by these four. May we all remember to do our part.

And, I exhort each of you to look around your world. Maybe there’s someone there who is in need our our compassion, understanding, and love. Maybe there’s someone we are supposed to pray for or pray with. Let’s make sure that we don’t miss the opportunities that are put in front of us. Not everyone will be saved, but if we don’t do our part, there will be some who are lost that don’t need to be. Little things do matter! Be the Christian you were called to be.
