I have to admit, my wife and I love these books. The messages they teach are timeless and so needed in today’s society: loyalty, bravery, integrity…. As a Christian, I wondered at first whether the witchcraft and sorcery portrayed in the books would be so anti-Christian that the books were unredeemable. It’s not the case. I don’t think that any reader, young or old, would get the impression from these books that witchcraft and sorcery are even an option for us “muggles”. Nowhere in the books are there any references to non-magical folk being able to learn sorcery. In fact, one of the early books even makes fun of one of the characters (Filch) for trying! I really don’t believe any reader would want to emulate him.
